Navy offers free medical services to host community in Bayelsa

The Nigerian Naval Outpost, Koluama on Saturday offered free medical services to more than 1,000 residents of Koluama II Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government of Bayelsa.

Cdr Stephen Agwai, Commanding Officer of the outpost, said that the purpose was to promote cooperation with the host community.

The residents were treated to free medical checkup, health education, distribution of insecticide treated nets and medication.

The Commanding Officer said that the outreach was part of Navy’s corporate social responsibility to the people, as a host community.

According to him, it’s our way to extend a helping hand to our fellow citizens who had accommodated the NN to ensure it achieved her constitutional role.

“As we embark on this free medical Rhapsody, we reaffirm our commitment to the well-being and prosperity of every Nigerian because health is fundamental to human existence.

“Therefore, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the Nigerian Navy deems it fit in ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every corner of our nation.

“The Koluama II community holds a special place in our heart and it is fitting that we begin our commemoration here.

“Today, we bring not only medical expertise but also compassion, care and solidarity,” he said.
