Gunmen abduct former Delta commissioner
Gunmen have abducted a former Delta female Commissioner for Technical Education, Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor.
Onyemaechi was abducted on Tuesday at her church along DBS road, Asaba during church service.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
Her abductors shot sporadically before taking her away to an unknown destination.
Two police officers attached to her were shot by the gunmen, killing one in the process, while the other sustained injury and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
But the police authorities, however, said they were on the trail of the gunmen.
Recalled that Onyemaechi, had between 2007 and 2015, represented the Aniocha South constituency at the Delta House of Assembly. She was also a House of Representative member for Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency at the House of Representatives in 2015.
She was also appointed as the State Commissioner for Technical Education, by Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, before she later resigned earlier this year.
