Eno urges NYSC members to promote national unity

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has urged corps members posted to the state to promote national unity and selfless service to the nation.
Eno said this at the closing ceremony of the 2025 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch A Stream 1 orientation course on Tuesday at Nsit Atai.
Represented by Mr Effiong Nicholas, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Eno assured the corps members of hospitality and security during the service year.
He charged the corps members to discharge their duties with diligence, dedication and sense of discipline in the interest of national unity and development.
“You are to serve as good ambassadors of the nation while contributing meaningfully to nation building.
“You are expected to play pivotal roles in sensitising our people on their obligatory roles in ensuring an egalitarian and prosperous nation,” he said.
The governor encouraged them to utilise the skills they acquired during the orientation course to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Eno urged the youth to accept their posting in good fate, and to settle down quickly at their places of primary assignments.
“Respect the customs and traditions of your host communities, engage with them in ways that foster mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.
“Do not travel at nights, only board vehicles at government approved motor parks. Locate a corps lodge, police station or military barrack whenever it gets late,” he said.
He expressed the commitment of the state government to supporting the corps members to have a productive and rewarding service year.
Mr Sam People, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, said that the corps members were taken through a rigorous orientation exercise in preparation for the service year.
He said that the scheme was committed to promoting national unity and selfless service at all times.
