Delta LG council unveils security short code to combat insecurity

The Oshimili South Local Government Council in Delta State has unveiled a security short code, 7745, to enhance security measures and protect lives and property.
This move comes after the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, summoned critical security stakeholders to address the prevailing security challenges in the state.
The Chairman of Oshimili South local government council, Dr Kelvin Ezenyili, explained that the security short code was designed to raise security consciousness and awareness, enabling the public to alert security agencies during emergencies and threats to safety.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration with security agencies, stating that the council works closely with law enforcement agencies to prevent potential threats and breaches.
Ezenyili also highlighted the council’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the local government area.
‘The safety and wellbeing of the people is a fundamental responsibility of any government and this is paramount to this administration”
”Recently we have all witnessed an increase in crime which is undoubtedly connected with the state of the economy, influx of criminals from the neighboring states and coupled with the challenges of our security infrastructure which has been a major concern of this administration right from the inception of my previous administration”
”Despite these challenges, the Oshimili South Local Government Council through periodic Peace and Security meetings and in synergy with law enforcement agencies has taken bold steps to increase security measures in key areas to prevent potential threats and breaches, ” he said.
The council boss urged members of the public to use the security short code, 7745, only when there is a potential threat to safety of lives and other security breaches.
He emphasised that the safety and well-being of the people is a fundamental responsibility of any government and is paramount to his administration.
