Pastor Adefarasin reports to police over viral gun incident

Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has voluntarily turned himself in to the Lagos State Police Command for questioning over a viral video showing him holding a gun-like object.
The police confirmed his arrest, stating, “No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case.
”The outcome of the investigation will be made public”.
The controversy began when a video surfaced online showing Adefarasin driving a Range Rover and engaging with a road user while holding an unidentified object.
Many speculated that the object was a firearm, prompting widespread debate and concern.
In response to the speculation, Adefarasin took to social media to clarify that the object was not a firearm and that he did not point it at anyone.
“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm.
”I want to assure you of this that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” he stated.
The content creator behind the viral video has also spoken out, claiming that he was simply filming luxury cars when he recognised Adefarasin’s vehicle.
He emphasised that he didn’t move close to the car and was not being aggressive. “I didn’t know what was in his hand,” he said, adding that he was just excited to see the pastor.
During a Sunday sermon, Adefarasin reiterated his position, describing the public reaction as “hurtful” and “malicious”.
He denied carrying a firearm or pointing one at the content creator, stating, “I do not have a pistol licence. I do not carry a firearm, and I pointed no firearm at anybody”.
He also suggested that financial motivations were behind the narrative, saying, “We have witnessed clickbaiters just looking for more money. ”
