Idris urges media to highlight Armed Forces’ successes

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on the media to boost the morale of the Armed Forces by frequently reporting on their successes, sacrifices, and exploits against unpatriotic elements.
Idris made the call at the second anniversary of Service Chiefs and engagement with Chief Executives of media organisations on Thursday in Abuja.
The minister also  expressed appreciation to the gallant men and women of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their sacrifices to ensure peace in the country.
He urged the media to take sides with the Armed Forces, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining peace and stability.
Idris emphasised the importance of responsible journalism, stating that security reporting must be factual and nation-focused.
He warned against sensationalising or unintentionally serving the agenda of adversaries, noting that terrorist propaganda often serves the purpose of those being fought against.
The minister commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for adopting a culture of openness and strategic communication with the public.
He assured that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would continue to support the military with policies that strengthen intelligence gathering, enhance inter-agency coordination, and promote personnel welfare.
Idris urged the media to report not only on what has gone wrong but also on what was being done right, highlighting the sacrifices and progress made by the Armed Forces.
