Bomb blast rocks Konduga town in Borno, several killed

A devastating bomb explosion occurred on Friday night, June in Konduga Town, Borno State, Nigeria.
The blast, believed to have been detonated by a female suicide bomber, claimed several lives and left many others injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred around 9:30 pm at Tashan Kifi, also known as the fish market, in Konduga Town.
Reports indicated that more than 20 people were killed in the explosion, with over 30 others sustaining injuries.
The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the attack.
ASP Daso Kenneth, the command’s spokesperson, said that 10 people died in the suicide attack, with several others injured.
He said, “We received a distress call yesterday evening at about 10 pm, a female suicide bomber carrying Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, sneaked into a crowd at a local food market and detonated her explosives.”
The police spokesperson further explained that security agencies quickly responded to the scene, clearing the area and evacuating the victims. The injured were rushed to hospitals in Maiduguri for treatment.
The police command’s spokesperson urged the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies on the movement of suspected criminals.
He emphasised that the war against terrorists should not be left to security agencies alone.
