Iran’s president declares end to 12-day war with Israel

Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian has declared the end of the 12-day war with Israel, citing the nation’s “heroic resistance” in a message broadcast on state-run IRNA news agency.
Pezeshkian said, “Today, after the heroic resistance of our great nation, whose determination makes history, we are witnessing the establishment of a truce and the ending of this 12-day war imposed by the adventurism and provocation of Israel”.
This announcement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump revealed a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran, with both countries agreeing to halt hostilities.
According to Trump, Iran will stop its operations first, followed by Israel 12 hours later.
However, there were initial discrepancies over the ceasefire agreement, with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi indicating no agreement had been reached yet.
The ceasefire is expected to last indefinitely, with Trump stating, “I think the ceasefire is unlimited. It’s going to go forever”.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed a “historic victory” in the conflict and announced that Israel’s focus would shift back to dismantling Hamas in Gaza and securing the release of hostages.
Pezeshkian emphasised Iran’s readiness to resolve issues with the U.S. based on international frameworks and its commitment to defending its legitimate rights in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
