Justice Omukoro Rescue: Diri praises security agencies

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, has commended security agencies for rescuing Justice Ebieyerin Omukoro, a judge of the state’s high court, after 12 days in captivity.
This was disclosed in a statement by Mr. Daniel Alabrah, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, as Diri said that security men went on the trail of his abductors that led to the release of the judge unhurt.
The governor also praised the combined efforts of security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS), for their relentless pressure on the kidnappers, leading to the judge’s safe release.
Diri further lauded the security agencies for their dedication and professionalism in securing Omukoro’s release.
The governor reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy for crimes in Bayelsa State and assured that the fleeing kidnappers would be apprehended and brought to justice
Similarly, the state judiciary commended the state government and security agencies for the release of the judge.
A statement by Julius Nyananyo, Head of Media and Information of the Bayelsa State Judiciary, quoted the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Maltida Abrakasa as commending everyone involved in securing Omukoro’s safe return.
Justice Abrakasa, commended the state government, security agencies, and the National Judicial Council for their roles in securing Omukoro’s safe return.
She said that Justice Omukoro was receiving medical and psychological support and has requested privacy during his recovery period.
He wrords: “As we celebrate this positive outcome, we remain committed to addressing the root causes of such incidents and further ensuring the safety of all Judicial officers in the state.
“We are happy to state that Justice Omukoro is now receiving medical and psychological support and requests privacy during this period of recovery”, she added.
