Community Security Corps Agency bill scales first reading in Delta Assembly

The Delta Community Security Corps Agency Bill, 2025 on Wednesday scaled first reading in the state House of Assembly.
The bill is being sponsored by Chief Isaac Anwuzia (APC-Aniocha South) and 27 other lawmakers to enhance the agency’s effectiveness and community policing in the state.
The bill, which was considered for the first reading during plenary, was seconded by Hon. Charles Emetulu (APC- Ndokwa West).
The bill, which had earlier gone through first and second reading was stopped due to anomalies in it.
The bill was later referred to the House Committee on Special Bill and Committee on Peace and Security for further amendments.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the representation of the bill at plenary, Hon. Anwuzia said that the flaws in the old bill had been amended hence the need to represent it.
The lawmaker also said that the amendments in the bill were to make the bill workable.
According to him, ”In the course of doing that, we discovered that it is very important that we repeal the old bill entirely because there were lots of amendments.
”So that informed the Speaker, Denis Guwor to now referred the bill back to the committee to deal with it.
”And the committee has done that and the report has been read on the floor of the House.
”The Speaker has directed that I, as the lead sponsor of the bill, should re-present the bill for first reading, which I have done.
“The second reading of the bill will be coming up next week,” he said. ‘
