Delta govt. launches maiden environmental sustainability awards

Delta Government, through its Ministry of Environment, has launched the maiden edition of the Delta State Environmental Sustainability Award.
The prestigious award aimed to recognise and celebrate individuals, institutions, organisations, communities, and businesses that demonstrated outstanding eco-friendly practices, promote environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and sustainable development across the state.
The award sought to showcase transparency, credibility, and fairness in the selection process through a dedicated its technical team.
The scope of work for this team includes; reviewing and finalising the award categories in line with the thematic areas, including cleanest local government area headquarters, cleanest town/communities, most environmental friendly oil and gas companies, most environmental friendly bank, most environmental friendly hospitality, business/hotels, most environmental friendly schools.
The team will also evaluating nominations for each category, assessing and designing scoring templates/tools for reviewing entries, conducting technical review assessments and submitting nominations using an agreed scoring methodology.
The team is expected to conduct field/site/online verification, submitting a technical evaluation report to the State Award Team (Ministry of Environment and the Consultant- Kegala Environmental Consultancy Limited)
The members of the technical team are encouraged to treat the assignment with utmost confidentiality.
The team is also encouraged to ensure credibility and fairness during the process.
