Chika Ike’s journey to self-discovery and healing

“I got married in 2006 when I was just 21 years old. At that time, I thought I had found love. His name is Tony Eberiri. I was young, hopeful, and ready to build a happy home. But life had other plans.
The marriage lasted for seven years, and those years were not easy for me. Behind the beautiful pictures and smiles, I was sûffering in silence.
I faced domestic violence. Yes, I was beaten, broken, and bru!sed physically and emotionally. I even lost a pregnancy because of the abuses.
I tried to stay strong, I prayed, I cr!ed, I begged, but nothing changed.
One day, I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself anymore. That was the day I said, ‘Enough is enough.’ I chose myself. I left that marriage, not because I didn’t want to be a wife, but because I didn’t want to be a v!victim anymore.
Walking away was not easy. People judged me. Some blamed me. But I knew my peace, my life, and my happiness mattered more.
Today, I’m stronger, wiser, and happier. I still believe in love, but I also believe love should not hurt. Never be afraid to walk away from what is killing your spirit.”- Chika ike
