Police arrest 2 suspected transformer vandals in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of vandalizing a transformer at Ikot Imoh village in the Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects are currently in custody, and the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
This is contained in a statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Uyo.
John said that the operatives of the command apprehended the suspects at 5:45 a.m. in the morning on Thursday.
She said that the arrest followed a report of suspicious activity around the transformer installation in Ikot Imoh Village, prompting a swift response by the Police.
“Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered a group of individuals attempting to tamper with the transformer.
“Two suspects were apprehended and other members of the gang fled the scene upon sighting the police,” John said.
The Command’s spokesperson said that Items recovered at the scene include; two seventeen-combination flat spanners, One hose pipe, one large heavy-duty cutter and one pipe wrench with socket.
She said that investigation was ongoing and when concluded the suspects would be prosecuted
