Oborevwori bags South-South Governor of the year award

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has been honoured with the prestigious South-South Governor of the Year Award at the maiden edition of the Progressive Digital Media Summit and Awards.
The award recognised exceptional performance, visionary leadership, and digital inclusion across Nigeria’s South-South region.
The award was presented to the governor in acknowledgement of his transformative strides in infrastructure, human capital development, and governance transparency since assuming office on May 29th 2023.
Organisers of the summit, commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to the development of Delta State through the effective implementation of his ‘MORE Agenda’;—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
According to them, the governor stands out among his peers for his impactful projects, people-focused policies, and responsive leadership style.
President Bola Tinubu’s message at the summit, “Verify before you amplify” was a call to action that underscored the essence of responsible journalism and social media engagement in an era marked by rising fake news, misinformation, disinformation, and cyberbullying.
The Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Mr Dada Olusegun, said the event was a tremendous morale booster for progressives across the country, reinforcing the strength and unity of their collective voice.
The enthusiasm and excitement that greeted the “Renewed Hope” message at the summit, stood as a testament to the impact of strategic and purposeful communication.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, former Member House of Representatives and Executive Assistant to the Governor on FCT Abuja Liaison, Hon. Lovette Idisi, expressed gratitude to the organisers for the honour, describing it as a testament to Governor Oborevwori’s relentless pursuit of good governance and inclusive growth in Delta State.
“This award is yet another validation of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s dedication to service, his commitment to improving lives, and his consistent investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment,” Idisi said.
He added that the administration remained resolute in fulfilling the promises of the MOR.E Agenda, which continued to resonate with Deltans across all senatorial districts.
The summit attracted key stakeholders in governance, technology, journalism, and civil society from across the country.
The event featured keynote sessions and panel discussions on digital innovation in governance, media accountability, and citizen engagement.
