The Inspector-General of Police (I-G) Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a further extension of the “grace period” for the enforcement of tinted glass permits to October 2, 2025.
The decision was announced by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
According to DCP Adejobi, the extension is in response to a significant surge in applications via the official portal, reflecting heightened public compliance with the directive.
The I-G’s approval aimed to allow sufficient time for the meticulous scrutiny of applications, ensuring that the permit is issued only to eligible and qualified individuals.
The statement explained thus: ”The extension will also provide room for the continued fine-tuning of verification processes, both digital and physical, to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse.
”The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms that the authorized platform for the application remains (link unavailable) and advises citizens to disregard any unofficial channels, ” it added
Members of the public were also encouraged to report all forms of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorised processing to the appropriate police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
Adejobi further commended the public for their cooperation, adding that the Nigeria Police Force would remain committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.
The police force is committed to ensuring that the tinted glass permit system is implemented in a manner that is both secure and convenient for the public.
By extending the deadline, the police aim to provide ample opportunity for individuals to comply with the directive and obtain the necessary permits.
The public is urged to take advantage of this extension and apply for the permit through the official channel.
