Abraka Shooting: Oborevwori assures justice for victim

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has assured that justice would be served in the killing of an unidentified woman in Abraka by security operatives on Saturday.
The governor’s statement was issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Sunday in Asaba.
The governor described the incident as “very unfortunate” and stressed that the tragedy could have been avoided if the operatives had followed standard operational procedures.
According to reports, the incident occurred when security operatives, reportedly pursuing suspected criminals, allegedly fired a shot that struck the victim.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The governor extended condolences to the bereaved family and urged security personnel to exercise maximum restraint in carrying out their duties.
Oborevwori called on security agencies operating in the state to adhere strictly to established operational standards to prevent unnecessary harm to the public.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of all residents and urged the people of Abraka to remain calm as investigations continue.
The governor assured that the incident would be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible would be held accountable.
He pledged to prioritise the safety and security of all citizens, particularly in the wake of this tragic event.
Oborevwori also promised to provide updates on the investigation and ensure that justice is served in the matter.
