Ini Edo on motherhood and surrogacy

Nigerian actress Ini Edo has shared a heartfelt and empowering message about her journey to motherhood through surrogacy.
In a recent post, she addressed the criticism and judgment she has faced, emphasising that her decision to use a surrogate was not driven by fear of motherhood, but rather a desire to become a mother on her own terms.
Ini Edo revealed that she has experienced multiple pregnancy losses, which she has endured with strength and resilience.
She also chose to defy societal expectations and pursue motherhood through surrogacy, prioritizing her own needs and desires.
Ini Edo’s message further emphasizes the joy and fulfillment she has found in becoming a mother, despite the challenges she has also faced.
”They said I bought a child. That I valued my looks over carrying a pregnancy.
”That I was too ashamed to carry a baby without a husband. But they don’t see the deep pain behind my smile.
”I’ve lost more pregnancies than I can count. I’ve cried in silence, wiped my tears, and stood tall again. I stopped waiting for the “perfect” man or the “right” time.
”I was done living by society’s rules. I chose surrogacy—not because I feared motherhood, but because I was ready for it on my own terms. My baby may have grown in another woman’s womb, but she belongs completely to me.
She calls me mummy, and that is the only truth that matters. Let them gossip. Let them judge. I have my child, and I have peace. That is more than enough for my heart.
