Nigeria @65: FG declares wednesday public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on Monday, congratulating Nigerians on the “historic milestone”.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to continue upholding patriotism, unity, and resilience, which have kept the nation together since its independence in 1960.
He also called on Nigerians to keep faith in President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, focused on
national rebirth, revitalising the nation’s spirit and potential, economic growth as well as fostering economic development and prosperity.
The minister expressed confidence that with collective effort, Nigeria would continue to advance in peace, progress, and development.
He wished Nigerians a happy and memorable 2025 Independence Day celebration.
Although the Independence Day parade has been canceled, other programs slated for the anniversary will still hold.
