Ndokwa Neku Union meets Hon. Ezechi over development issues

The Executives of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), the apex socio-cultural body of the Ndokwa ethnic nationality, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, at his office in the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
The delegation, led by the Union’s President, Chief Amaechi Asugwuni, used the opportunity to present critical development concerns affecting Ndokwa land.
These included the need for a review of the DESOPADEC oil quantum allocation, the limited spread of NDDC projects in Ndokwa communities, and the persistent lack of electricity in large parts of the constituency.
The group also stressed the urgency of engaging with the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, to facilitate the completion of power projects in the region, especially in connection to the Okpai Independent Power Project (IPP) and associated transmission infrastructure.
In his response, Hon. Ezechi welcomed the Union’s visit, describing it as “timely and strategic.”
He praised the NNU executives for taking a proactive stance on issues that affect their people and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the equitable development of Ndokwa Nation.
“Your visit shows leadership, unity, and focus on the collective good of Ndokwa people,” Hon. Ezechi said.
Addressing the oil quantum issue, he revealed ongoing engagements with the State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that further legislative and executive collaboration was required to achieve a fairer allocation through DESOPADEC.
On the matter of NDDC projects, the lawmaker said he has been actively working through the House Committee on NDDC to push for fair inclusion of Ndokwa Nation in the Commission’s project planning and execution framework.
He expressed optimism that with Mr. Chiedu Ebie now serving as Chairman of the NDDC Board, the Ndokwa region would receive increased attention and benefits from the interventionist agency.
Turning to the power sector, Hon. Ezechi noted that the Okpai IPP Phase 2, the 132KV double circuit transmission line, and substations in Okpai and Kwale were now being prioritised by the Federal Ministry of Power and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
“Through sustained engagement with key stakeholders, we are making significant headway.
”The stalled projects are receiving renewed attention and will soon resume,” he assured.
The lawmaker also congratulated the newly elected NNU leadership, urging them to remain champions of unity and peace while preserving the rich cultural identity of the Ndokwa people.
He reiterated his commitment to youth and women empowerment through targeted skills development and livelihood support, promising inclusive and equitable constituency programs across the three local governments.
Hon. Ezechi extended gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, and former Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for their continued support of Ndokwa development.
He also commended the synergy between the Governor and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, noting that the unity of both leaders had brought tangible gains in power, education, and infrastructure to Ndokwa land.
“This alignment between the state’s top leadership is producing real dividends. The people of Ndokwa are witnessing the results,” he said.
