Dr. Abubakar Musa, elected president of All Africa Youth Forum

A prominent Nigerian youth advocate and agricultural development leader, Dr. Abubakar Musa, has been elected Global President of the All Africa Youth Forum (AAYF).

His appointment was confirmed during the AAYF Global Conference held in Liberia and was officially announced in a statement released by the organisation’s Secretary General, Mr. Samuel Kerkula, in Abuja on Saturday.

Dr. Musa, who previously served as the National Coordinator of the Nigeria Young Farmers Network (NYFN), is also the current President of the Coalition of Farmers Association of Nigeria (COFAN) and a member of the World Farmers Organisation. He will serve a four-year term as AAYF President.

In his remarks, Musa described his election as a renewed call to action and a commitment to mobilising Africa’s youth for sustainable development.

He pledged to champion youth empowerment, agricultural transformation, climate action, and gender equality across the continent.

“This appointment is not just a position, but a responsibility to drive meaningful change,” Musa said.

“Africa’s youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the architects of today.

”Under my leadership, AAYF will build strong youth cooperatives, expand leadership networks, and promote innovation in agribusiness and inclusive governance, ” he added.

He also outlined his administration’s priorities, which included promoting climate-smart agriculture, creating green jobs, and advancing sustainable development in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

Musa also called on African governments, development partners, and the private sector to invest in youth-driven solutions and cross-border collaboration.

“The confidence placed in me will not be taken for granted.

“Together, we will realise the Africa we want—through collective effort and transformative leadership, ” he said.

The All Africa Youth Forum is a continental platform committed to empowering young Africans and fostering leadership across key development sectors.

Musa’s appointment marked a significant milestone for Nigeria and the broader African youth movement.
