NOA calls on Akwa Ibom residents to participate in CVR

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Akwa Ibom State has urged residents of voting age to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to ensure their eligibility to vote in upcoming elections.

The appeal was made by Mr. Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, NOA’s State Director, during a visit to INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Obi Effanga, at the commission’s headquarters in Uyo on Thursday.

Mkpoutom described participation in the CVR as a civic duty, noting that voting empowers citizens to select leaders who reflect their aspirations and priorities.

He highlighted the importance of involving civil society organizations, community leaders, and the media in supporting INEC’s registration drive.

Mr. Effanga welcomed NOA’s visit as a platform to reinforce collaboration between the two agencies.

He praised NOA’s ongoing efforts to mobilize citizens and raise awareness about issues that promote peace and development.

Effanga explained that the CVR was essential not only for new voters but also for updating existing voter records affected by demographic changes or the passing of registered individuals.

Maintaining an accurate and current voter register, he emphasised, strengthens civic engagement and the integrity of the democratic process.

The joint effort between NOA and INEC seeks to ensure that every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote, contributing to a representative and inclusive democracy in Akwa Ibom.
