Tinubu swears in Bernard Doro, Kingsley Ude as ministers

President Bola Tinubu swore in two newly appointed ministers, Bernard Doro and Kingsley Ude, at a brief ceremony in the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

The swearing-in took place moments before he presided over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Bernard Doro appointed minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction

Doro, a pharmacist and lawyer from Plateau State, replaces Nentawe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who recently assumed office as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Doro’s nomination had been confirmed by the Senate in late October, marking the final step in his official appointment.

As a professional with both pharmaceutical and legal expertise, Doro is expected to bring a combination of technical knowledge and governance experience to the ministry.

Kingsley Ude takes over ministry of science, innovation and technology

Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, was appointed to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, who stepped down amid certificate forgery allegations.

Prior to his appointment, Ude served as Enugu State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

His Senate confirmation occurred earlier on the same day, following a brief screening.

His legal background and experience in public service are expected to influence policy and reforms in science, innovation, and technology.

Immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, President Tinubu opened the FEC meeting.

The session began with a presentation by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, on the current state of the economy.

In attendance were key government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Esther Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; other ministers; and senior presidential advisers.
