Nigerian Army, TotalEnergies inaugurate new hospital wards in Port Harcourt

The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division in Rivers State has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding officials, facilities, and operations of multinational oil companies in the Niger Delta.

The assurance was given by Major General Emmanuel Emekah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, during the inauguration of three new hospital wards constructed by TotalEnergies (EP) Nigeria Limited in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) at the 6 Division Nigeria Army Medical Centre in Port Harcourt.

Major General Emekah lauded the partnership between the army and TotalEnergies, noting its significant contribution to peace, stability, and development within the division’s area of responsibility.

He described the newly built facility as a symbol of hope, care, and compassion for soldiers and their families.

“I wish to categorically assure you that 6 Division Headquarters will take every necessary step to sustain and deepen this relationship.

”We will continue to provide unrelenting security support to safeguard your operations, facilities, and personnel,” Emekah said.

He also urged the army’s medical personnel to maximize the use of the facility, emphasising that it would enhance their capacity to deliver quality healthcare to both soldiers and dependents.

At the inauguration, Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director and Country Chair of TotalEnergies, reiterated the company’s commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian Army.

He noted that while soldiers ensure the protection of oil installations and national territory, their health and well-being, along with that of their families, remain paramount.

Bouyer stated that the facility aligned with TotalEnergies’ core value of safety, highlighting that the wards would provide a secure and supportive environment for army personnel and their dependents.

“This new facility is intended to provide a safe and supportive environment for soldiers and their families in times of need.

”This achievement is a shared one together we have accomplished something remarkable,” he said, appreciating the cooperation and trust between the company and the army.

The inauguration of the hospital wards marked a significant milestone in army-corporate collaboration, reflecting the mutual commitment of TotalEnergies and the Nigerian Army to community welfare and operational security in the Niger Delta.

Both parties emphasised that the partnership enhances not only the healthcare infrastructure available to soldiers but also contributes to stability and morale within military communities.
