Delta governor’s CPS, honoured with friend of the press award

The Chief Press Secretary to the Delta Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, has been honoured with a special recognition award as “Friend of the Press” by Inside-Out Limited, operators of Trend 100.9 FM.
The prestigious award was presented during the station’s 10th anniversary celebration, held in Asaba on Sunday.
The event marked a decade of impactful broadcasting and community service by the popular radio station.
According to the management of Trend 100.9 FM, the honour was conferred on Sir Ahon in recognition of his unwavering dedication to promoting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ‘MORE Agenda’ and his exceptional contributions to the state’s development communication.
In a citation read during the presentation, the organisers praised Ahon’s efforts in fostering a positive relationship between government and the media, noting that his professionalism and accessibility have enhanced transparency and public trust in the Oborevwori administration.
“Sir Ahon’s consistent engagement with journalists and his commitment to balanced information dissemination have been instrumental in shaping public perception and promoting the achievements of the Delta State Government,” the statement noted.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ivovi Aruoriwo, an Assistant Director of Information in the Directorate of Government House and Protocol, conveyed Ahon’s gratitude to the management and staff of Trend 100.9 FM for the recognition.
In his remarks, Sir Ahon congratulated the station on its decade-long success and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting responsible journalism and open communication between the government and the people.
“I dedicate this award to His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whose visionary leadership and commitment to inclusive governance continue to inspire my work.
“I also appreciate the Government House Press Corps for their collaboration and professionalism, which have contributed immensely to my success, ” he said.
The Chief Press Secretary commended Trend 100.9 FM for its role in promoting balanced reporting, civic education, and community development through quality programming, describing the station as “a true voice of the people.”
Other notable recipients of awards at the ceremony included the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Ms. Orode Uduaghan; Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili; Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta; and veteran broadcaster and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development, Mr. Harrison Ocholor, among others.
The 10th-anniversary celebration of Trend 100.9 FM drew notable personalities from the media, public service, and private sectors, who commended the station for a decade of excellence in broadcasting and its sustained commitment to promoting good governance in Delta State.
