NSE elevates 481 engineers to fellowship Status

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) on Monday conferred fellowship status on 481 of its members during a ceremony held in Abuja, marking the highest level of professional recognition within the organization.

The event, part of the 2025 NSE International Conference scheduled from December 1 to 5, celebrated engineers who have demonstrated outstanding service, technical competence, and significant contributions to the profession.

Speaking at the ceremony, NSE President Mrs. Margaret Oguntala emphasized that the fellowship carries both prestige and responsibility.

“Your elevation signifies distinguished service, outstanding competence, and impactful contribution to the engineering profession,” she said.

She urged the new fellows to adopt a policy-conscious approach to engineering, viewing it as a tool for governance reforms, sustainable progress, and national development.

Mrs. Oguntala also stressed that the NSE retains the authority to revoke fellowships in cases of unethical or unprofessional conduct, reinforcing the society’s commitment to ethical leadership and regulatory compliance.

“Fellowship is a trust. The Society expects continuous ethical leadership and alignment with national development priorities,” she added, noting Nigeria’s pressing need for strong policymaking and resilient infrastructure, areas in which engineering expertise is indispensable.

Chairman of the Board of Fellows, Mr. Maliki Kamila, confirmed that all awardees underwent thorough screening before their elevation. He encouraged them to leverage their expertise to provide solutions for the nation’s most urgent challenges.

The ceremony also featured the launch of the 2025 edition of the NSE magazine and the formal decoration of the new fellows.
