NAFDAC issues alert over recalled indomie vegetable flavour noodles

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has cautioned Nigerians against a recalled batch of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles, citing the presence of undeclared allergens that could endanger public health.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, clarified that the affected product eas not manufactured in Nigeria and was neither approved nor licensed for sale in the country.
She assured the public that the product was not currently available in Nigerian markets.
Despite this assurance, Adeyeye said the agency has intensified surveillance nationwide to prevent the recalled noodles from entering the country through illegal channels.
According to her, NAFDAC has directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to remain vigilant and immediately remove the product if found anywhere within their jurisdictions.
She added that the agency’s Ports Inspection Directorate has been placed on high alert to block any attempt to import the unapproved noodle product into Nigeria.
NAFDAC also explained that noodles are listed on the Federal Government’s Import Prohibition List, making their importation illegal.
This, the agency noted, significantly reduces the chances of the recalled product finding its way into the Nigerian market, though precautionary monitoring remains in place.
The agency advised consumers to be cautious and to discard the product immediately if encountered.
Members of the public were also urged to report any sighting or sale of the recalled noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s toll-free line.
In addition, Nigerians were encouraged to report any adverse reactions linked to the consumption of food products via NAFDAC’s official electronic reporting platforms.
NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that only safe, approved food products are available to consumers across the country.
