Lagos Govt. gives financial support to 250 more ‘Eko Cares’ beneficiaries

The Lagos State Government on Saturday distributed cheques to 250 additional residents under the Eko Cares/Eko Listens Financial Assistance Programme, aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens.

Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Political, Legislative & Civic Engagement, stated that the disbursement was carried out through his office and is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance social support and public confidence.

“The programme is designed to bring tangible benefits to indigent residents, helping them experience the positive impact of democratic governance,” Tajudeen said.

He noted that the initiative followed an earlier distribution to 400 beneficiaries and urged the new recipients to use the funds responsibly for productive activities rather than on non-essential items.

Tajudeen also encouraged participants to enroll in the Ilera-Eko Health Insurance Scheme, under the Lagos State Health Management Agency, highlighting the administration’s commitment to affordable healthcare for all residents.

Mr. Sholabomi Shashore, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, reminded beneficiaries to promptly deposit their cheques to address immediate financial needs and maximize the programme’s benefits.
