Kano governor approves new appointments, promotions

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved a fresh round of appointments and promotions across key government institutions in the state, with immediate effect.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Kano by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature.
According to the statement, Mr. Abubakar Matawalle has been appointed Acting Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Bature noted that Matawalle brings extensive administrative experience to the role, having previously served as Executive Secretary of the board as well as Permanent Secretary in the Establishment Office.
In addition to the appointment, the governor approved the promotion of Mr. Yusuf Mukhtar to the rank of Permanent Secretary.
The statement further announced the appointment of Rahama Malam Alhaji as Provost of the Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute.
She was described as a seasoned legal practitioner with broad experience in litigation, corporate practice, and regulatory compliance.
Also promoted is Aina’u Ade, who has been elevated to the position of Senior Special Assistant on Kannywood Affairs.
The spokesperson said her advancement was in recognition of her exceptional performance and contributions to the creative industry in the state.
Governor Yusuf, while congratulating the appointees, urged them to justify the confidence placed in them by demonstrating dedication, transparency, and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
He reiterated that the appointments align with his administration’s commitment to the “Kano First” agenda, which prioritises effective governance, institutional efficiency, and service delivery for the people of the state.
