Arise News Channel anchor, Ojy Okpe, has lost her father, Chief Matthew Egwuenu, a retired Commissioner of Police.
Chief Egwuenu passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was 80 years old at the time of his death.
The late police officer was widely respected for his years of service and dedication to public safety during his career in the Nigeria Police Force.
Confirmation of his death was contained in a statement released on Sunday by Mr. John Paul on behalf of the family.
The family expressed gratitude for condolences received and requested prayers as funeral arrangements will be announced later.
