FG sends high-powered delegation to Kano after Singer Market fire

President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead a Federal Government delegation to Kano to console victims of the Singer Market fire disaster.
The fire, which started Saturday evening and continued into Sunday morning, reportedly caused billions of naira in losses and marked the second major incident at the market within two weeks.
According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the delegation will depart Abuja on Monday to convey the President’s condolences and pledge financial assistance to affected traders, supporting Kano State Government in reopening the market swiftly.
Key members of the delegation include:
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Ismaila
Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir Bichi
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and Bernard M. Doro, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar.
President Tinubu had earlier spoken with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressing sympathy to traders and
residents affected by the incident.
Alarmed by the recurrence of fires at the market, the President has ordered a comprehensive investigation to determine the causes and implement measures to prevent further outbreaks.
