Former Presidential aide Obono-Obla arrested on forgery allegation

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested former presidential aide Okoi Obono-Obla over allegations of forgery and obtaining entry into the legal profession by false pretence.
The arrest occurred near Abuja Park in Ugep town, according to the Cross River Police Public Relations Officer, Eitokpah Sunday. Obono-Obla was taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Calabar, where investigations are ongoing.
His legal counsel and relatives have been duly notified.

Obono-Obla previously served as Special Assistant to the President (Prosecution) at the Federal Ministry of Justice and later as Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP).
He has faced multiple corruption and forgery allegations over the years:

2019–2021: Rearraigned multiple times over alleged fraud, forgery, and falsification of O’Level results to gain admission to study law at the University of Jos.
2020–2021: Arrested and rearraigned on fraud and forgery-related charges, including a N10.1 million alleged fraud case.
The Cross River Police stated that investigations into the latest allegations were ongoing, emphasising that the arrest was carried out lawfully in line with statutory powers.
