Akpabio hails Tinubu’s leadership

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, says Nigeria has recorded notable gains in the economy, security and infrastructure since 2023 under the current administration.

Akpabio commended President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for what he described as transformative and purposeful leadership.

In a statement by his media office, the Senate President also praised members of the National Assembly and the Federal Executive Council for supporting government reforms.

He spoke at the funeral of his late in-law, Essien Pius Ubeng, held at the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Ukanna Diocese in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing the congregation, Akpabio said the country had made measurable progress in key sectors despite prevailing economic and security challenges.

He noted that while Nigeria had not yet reached its desired destination, it had moved beyond previous difficulties recorded before 2023.

According to him, the past three years witnessed positive shifts in economic management, internal security and infrastructural expansion nationwide.

Akpabio highlighted cooperation between the executive and legislative arms, describing it as crucial for sustaining reforms and strengthening democratic governance.

He thanked the Vice President, federal lawmakers and cabinet members for standing firmly behind the President in implementing policies.

The Senate President said such collaboration was aimed at ensuring citizens enjoy safety and the dividends of democracy without ethnic, religious or political bias.

The funeral service also served as a tribute to the late Elder Ubeng, whom Akpabio described as a strong moral figure within his family and church.

In his sermon, Most Rev. Etim Udo Ekong urged worshippers to live purposeful lives and make meaningful contributions to society.

He reminded the congregation that death is inevitable and called on believers to be guided by service, integrity and compassion.
