Delta traditional rulers hail Oborevwori over Gov. of the Year honours

Traditional rulers in Delta State have extended warm congratulations to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following his emergence as Governor of the Year 2025 by two prominent national dailies, Leadership Newspaper and The Telegraph, citing his administration’s infrastructural strides across the state.
The commendation was delivered at the close of the monthly meeting of the Delta State Traditional Rulers’ Council held in Asaba, where monarchs from the three senatorial districts gathered to deliberate on state and community matters.
Speaking on behalf of the Council, its Chairman and the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Felix Mujakpuero, lauded the governor’s performance, describing the awards as a fitting recognition of visible development projects executed under the current administration.
According to the royal father, multi-billion-naira infrastructure initiatives are ongoing in Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South, reflecting what he termed a “balanced and inclusive development agenda.”
He noted that the monarchs were particularly impressed by road expansions, urban renewal efforts and other large-scale projects designed to stimulate economic growth.
“We are delighted and proud of the governor’s achievements so far,” the Council Chairman said, adding that the royal fathers anticipate sustained progress in line with the administration’s ‘MORE Agenda’.
Beyond infrastructure, the Council also expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for prioritising the welfare of traditional rulers in the state.
The monarchs referenced the recent presentation of brand-new 2025 model Sport Utility Vehicles to members of the Council, describing the gesture as a demonstration of respect for traditional institutions and their role in grassroots governance.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the Council further celebrated several monarchs who recently marked their coronation anniversaries.
Those honoured include the Ovie of Uvwie, the Ovie of Agbon, the Ebenanowie of Kumbowei and the Ovie of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom.
The Council commended their years of service, leadership and contributions to peace and development within their respective domains.
The well-attended session featured prominent members of the Council’s leadership, including the First Vice Chairman and Pere of Akugbene Mein Kingdom, SP Luke Kalanama VIII; the Second Vice Chairman and Obi of Ubulu-Unor, Agbogidi Obi Henry Kikachukwu I; as well as the immediate past Chairman of the Council and Obi of Owa, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II.
Traditional rulers from across Delta State’s three senatorial districts were present, underscoring the unity and collective voice of the state’s revered custodians of culture and tradition.
The endorsement by the Traditional Rulers’ Council is widely seen as a significant morale boost for the Oborevwori administration, reinforcing the governor’s growing profile on the national stage following the prestigious awards.
