Senate President Akpabio salutes Nigerian women

The Godswill Akpabio has commended Nigerian women for their resilience, sacrifices, and vital role in nation-building on this year’s International Women’s Day.

In a statement delivered by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, on Sunday Akpabio praised women for their contributions to families, communities, and society at large, describing mothers as “the greatest gift from God to humanity.”

“Today, I join the world to celebrate our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, colleagues, and friends who wake up each day and work to make the world a better place. Your relentless efforts can never go unnoticed,” Akpabio said.

Highlighting his personal experience, he added, “I am the biggest beneficiary of the love, care, compassion, and sacrifice of a woman. My mother gave her all to raise me to become what I am today.”

The Senate President reiterated the legislature’s commitment to advancing women’s economic and political participation, aligning with this year’s IWD theme, ‘Give and Gain’.

“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate, and the 10th National Assembly, I congratulate all women and wish our mothers, sisters, daughters, and aunties a blessed and peaceful celebration.

”May your efforts never go in vain,” he said.

International Women’s Day, observed on March 8, recognizes women’s struggle for equality, empowerment, and their continued contributions to society.
