King Charles to host Tinubu at Windsor Castle

Heightened security measures are set to take effect as King Charles prepares to host Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at Windsor Castle from 18–19 March 2026.
Thames Valley Police confirmed extensive security operations, including a temporary expansion of the existing airspace restriction around the castle.
The exclusion zone will be enforced on 18 March from 07:00 to 23:59 GMT, with breaches constituting a criminal offence under the Air Navigation Order.
Chief Superintendent Adrian Hall said the measures include both visible and covert operations.
Armed units, mounted police, search teams, and roads policing officers would patrol the town, supported by neighbourhood officers conducting unpredictable patrols.
CCTV monitoring and hostile vehicle mitigation barriers will also be in place.
“Significant planning has gone into this state visit. We will ensure the safety of dignitaries, spectators, and the public during this historic occasion,” Hall said.
Several road closures and parking restrictions will begin from 17 March.
Footways and crossings in the town centre will be intermittently closed to accommodate a ceremonial procession.
Residents and visitors were urged to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious activity via 101, or 999 in emergencies.
The visit marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the UK and Nigeria, drawing attention to bilateral relations and security coordination at Windsor.
