FG delegation inspects central hospital Kwale for teaching status

A Federal Government delegation has inspected Central Hospital, Kwale in Ndokwa West, Delta State.
The visit was part of preparations to convert it into a teaching hospital.

The inspection was led by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.

The team included senior officials from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Professor Pate said the federal government remained committed to upgrading healthcare.

“We are working to ensure improved healthcare delivery across the country,” he said.

The delegation assessed wards, laboratories, utilities and support facilities to determine readiness for tertiary medical training and services.

Pate noted that facility upgrades will support clinical education.
“We must build hospitals that train and serve patients effectively,” he added.

The delegation also evaluated equipment and infrastructure
to identify areas needing enhancement for academic standards.

Community leaders said they welcomed the inspection and praised the initiative.

They reiterated the significance of a teaching hospital in Kwale.

Delta State donated Central Hospital and land for conversion
to support the planned Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale.

Sir Monday Onyeme, speaking for the Delta State Government, said, “The state approved the use of the hospital as the take‑off point for the teaching hospital.”

Onyeme further urged stakeholders to work together for swift implementation, adding, “The facility will boost healthcare access and training opportunities”.

Community representatives welcomed the federal interest, calling the planned upgrade a major development milestone.
