Gospel singer recalls 30-year fatherly bond with Odumeje

Popular gospel singer Chinyere Udoma has recounted her long-standing relationship with Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, revealing that he took her in like a father three decades ago when she was largely unknown.

Speaking during a recent church service at the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry in Anambra State, Udoma shared how Odumeje, also known by multiple monikers such as ‘Indaboski Pahose’ and ‘the lion himself,’ supported her early in life and intervened when her husband faced a life-threatening situation.

“Then nobody knew me, but he took me in like a father. I was nobody, but he took me in. Today, a lot of you accept me because I’m a celebrity,” Udoma said.

She recounted the humble beginnings of the church, noting the lack of air conditioning and tiled floors, and described how Odumeje reassured her when her husband was nearly declared dead by doctors.

She emphasised the enduring nature of their relationship, stating, “What one uses to pass the other is what you know; someone else does not know.

”Some 30 years ago, we conducted deliverance here. When the doctor said my husband had died, I told the doctor, I don’t want to be a widow, and the prophet said, ‘This man will not die.’ It wasn’t funny.”

Udoma added that God has richly blessed her through Odumeje’s ministry and stressed that their friendship has lasted over 30 years, a bond that has remained strong through fame and fortune.
