Tinubu condoles with El-Rufai over mother’s death

President Bola Tinubu has expressed heartfelt condolences to former Nasir El-Rufai on the passing of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who died on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Cairo after an illness.
In a condolence message released by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Hajiya Umma as a woman who lived a remarkable life and nurtured children and grandchildren who have made notable contributions to the nation.
“Nasir, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Hajiya Umma, which happened today in Cairo.
”As someone who has also lost a mother, I share in your grief and understand the depth of your loss,” Tinubu said.
He acknowledged the unique pain of losing a mother and expressed hope that the memories of her love, wisdom, and guidance would offer comfort in the days ahead.
The President further remarked on the values instilled by Hajiya Umma, saying he hoped El-Rufai would draw strength from her remarkable life.
“As firm believers in Allah, we are convinced that she has played her part in this world as laid out for her by the Almighty and has returned to her Maker.
”I join family, friends, and well-wishers in mourning with you. May Allah grant your dear mother Aljannah Firdaus,” he added.
Hajiya Umma’s passing marks a solemn moment for the El-Rufai family and the wider community who have celebrated her life and contributions over the years.
