Katsina police nab woman over N10m shoplifting spree

Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, for allegedly stealing goods valued at over N10 million from various shops within Katsina metropolis.
The arrest followed a report by the Chief Security Officer of Katsina Green House on March 4, 2026, after CCTV footage captured Ibrahim in the act of shoplifting.
The footage showed Ibrahim taking multiple items from a retail outlet, prompting close monitoring by police, which eventually led to her apprehension.
During a subsequent search of her residence, authorities recovered stolen goods totaling N10,102,000.
Recovered items included 274 sets of shoes, 37 veils, 67 sets of sportswear, 54 sets of children’s clothing, 123 caps, 315 pairs of socks, 45 women’s wrappers, nine handbags, three cartons of spaghetti, 24 bottles of perfume, and five cartons of soap.
Additionally, police recovered bags containing various fashion jewelry and sacks of cooking seasonings and spices.
In a statement released on Friday, the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the stolen items have been identified by their rightful owners.
Investigations revealed that Ibrahim has a history of shoplifting, and she reportedly confessed to the offenses. She has been charged in court and is awaiting prosecution.
The State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the officers for their diligence and urged business owners to remain vigilant while assuring the public that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property across Katsina State.
