JAMB denies UTME postponement rumour

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed a widely circulated report claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the examination body urged candidates and the general public to disregard the purported notice, stressing that it did not originate from the board.
“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press release alleging that the 2026 UTME has been postponed.
”We wish to state clearly that the notice is fake and did not emanate from the board. Candidates and the general public are advised to disregard it.
”All arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain on course as scheduled,” JAMB stated.
The board reiterated that the main UTME is scheduled to hold between April 16 and April 25, 2026, as earlier announced, with preparations continuing as planned.
JAMB’s clarification followed the conduct of the 2026 mock UTME on March 28, which experienced technical glitches in some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country.
According to the board, out of 224,597 candidates who registered for the mock exercise, 152,586 successfully sat for the examination in 989 centres nationwide.
It also disclosed that more than 20 CBT centres affected by technical challenges during the exercise have since been delisted due to inadequate infrastructure.
The board assured candidates that necessary steps were being taken to ensure a smooth and hitch-free main examination, urging them to rely only on official communication channels for accurate information.
