Nigeria will overcome insecurity — Akpabio

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has reassured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s determination to tackle insecurity and restore peace across the country.

The assurance comes as Christians in Nigeria and around the world mark the Easter celebration, a period he described as one that calls for reflection on unity, love, and peaceful coexistence.

The message was conveyed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.

Akpabio urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance and mutual respect, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, stressing the need for collective efforts in building a more harmonious society.

“On behalf of my family, my constituents, the Senate, and the National Assembly, I extend my warmest Easter greetings to all Christians in Nigeria and around the world.

“As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that His message embodies.

”Let us work together to build a nation where everyone can live together in peace, harmony and prosperity,” he said.

While acknowledging the security challenges facing the nation, the Senate President expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome them through unity and sustained efforts by security agencies.

“I want to assure Nigerians that we will overcome these difficulties through collective efforts, understanding and prayers.

”The president is not resting on his oars and the Armed Forces and all security agencies have been working relentlessly to tame the tide,” he added.

He also sympathised with families affected by violent attacks, particularly the recent killings in Jos, praying for the repose of the victims and comfort for the bereaved.

“I sympathise with families affected by the mindless attacks by terrorists and bandits across the country, especially the recent killings in Jos.

”I pray that the Almighty God will have mercy on those who lost their lives, and console the bereaved families,” Akpabio stated.

In a related development, Archbishop Adewale Martins of the Lagos Archdiocese called on political leaders to urgently address the rising wave of killings across the country.

He urged those in authority to take decisive steps to end the violence, noting that recent incidents in states such as Kwara State, Nasarawa State, and Plateau State have heightened concerns about safety and national stability.

The statements come amid growing calls for stronger action to curb insecurity and protect lives and property nationwide.
