Easter: Delta Speaker calls for hope, unity amid challenges
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Dennis Guwor, has called on Christians worldwide to embrace hope and renewal as they celebrate Easter, which commemorates the triumph of Jesus Christ over death.
This is contained in an Easter message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, on Sunday in Asaba.
Guwor, who is also the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, urged Christians to reflect on the enduring significance of the festival.
He emphasised Christ’s sacrificial love, death and resurrection as a source of hope and inspiration for humanity.
“Easter remains the cornerstone of the Christian faith, commemorating the sacrificial love and glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“It is a strong reminder that hope can rise from despair, light can overcome darkness, and life triumphs over death,” he said.
The speaker also encouraged Christians to embrace the core values exemplified by Christ, not only as spiritual principles but also as practical tools for fostering peaceful and just societies.

“At this solemn yet joyous time, I urge all Christians to reflect deeply on the virtues exemplified by Christ.
“These values are not only central to our spiritual growth but are also essential for building peaceful, just and united societies,” he said.
Guwor also called on citizens and leaders alike to remain steadfast and committed to collaboration for peace, security and prosperity.
“The message of Easter assures us that no situation is beyond redemption.
“It calls us to remain steadfast, support one another and work collaboratively towards a future marked by peace, security and prosperity for all,” he added.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of state legislatures to enacting laws that promote good governance, social justice and economic development.
Guwor assured that the assembly would continue working with relevant stakeholders to improve the welfare of the people.
“Let us promote harmony in society regardless of differences in faith, ethnicity or background.
“May the resurrection of Christ bring renewed hope to every heart, healing to every land and enduring peace to our world. Happy Easter,” he said.
