Abuja Airport disruption causes flight delays

Passengers travelling through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja are facing delays following a temporary disruption that has affected flight operations at the domestic terminals.
Airport management announced on Monday that the situation impacted boarding processes, with particular challenges linked to baggage handling procedures.
According to an operational update, the disruption stems from a technical fault in the airport’s baggage screening equipment, which has slowed down standard processing activities and led to longer turnaround times for departing flights.
“We understand the inconvenience and uncertainty this may cause, and we truly appreciate your patience during this time,” the management said in a statement.
In a bid to reduce the impact on passengers, authorities said alternative screening arrangements have been put in place using available equipment to maintain safety and ensure flights continue to operate.
“However, these additional steps may result in longer processing times and possible delays to some departures,” the statement added.
Airport officials noted that ground personnel have been fully mobilised to assist travellers, provide timely updates, and prioritise flights most affected by the disruption.
They also disclosed that efforts were ongoing in collaboration with relevant airport authorities to resolve the technical issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
Management assured passengers that all necessary measures are being taken to minimise disruption to travel plans, while apologising for the inconvenience caused.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the statement said, adding that further updates would be communicated as the situation improves.
