JAMB delists 23 CBT centres after mock UTME

The (JAMB) has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide following technical failures recorded during the 2026 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted recently.
The decision was announced on Saturday in a bulletin issued by the board and signed by its Public Communication Advisor, , as preparations intensify for the main UTME scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
According to JAMB, the mock UTME serves as a critical assessment tool to identify centres that do not meet the required operational and technical standards necessary for the conduct of the examination.
The board disclosed that a total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for the 2026 UTME across Nigeria, with (321,814), (303,498), (302,963), and (137,156) recording the highest number of candidates.
To improve accessibility and logistics, the examination body established about 1,000 centres nationwide for the 2026 exercise, an increase from fewer than 800 centres used in 2025.
However, an internal review of the mock examination revealed that several centres fell short of the expected standards, leading to their removal from the list of approved venues.
The affected centres are located across multiple states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Plateau.
JAMB stated that the move to delist the centres is aimed at protecting the integrity of the examination process and ensuring that only fully compliant facilities are utilised for the main UTME.
The board reiterated its commitment to conducting a smooth and credible examination, assuring candidates that necessary measures have been put in place to address the technical challenges observed during the mock exercise.
