Bayern clinch 35th Bundesliga title after Stuttgart win

Bayern Munich secured their record-extending 35th Bundesliga title on Sunday, April 19, 2026, after coming from behind to defeat VfB Stuttgart 4–2 in Munich.

England captain Harry Kane scored his 32nd goal of the season, while Raphael Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson, and Alphonso Davies also found the net to seal the victory.

Stuttgart’s goals came from Chris Fuehrich and Chema Andres.

The title triumph was confirmed with four matches still to play, extending Bayern’s dominance in German football, having now won 13 of the last 14 Bundesliga titles.

The result followed Borussia Dortmund’s 2–1 defeat to Hoffenheim on Saturday, which left Bayern needing only a point to clinch the title.

Head coach Vincent Kompany rotated his squad ahead of a German Cup semi-final, leaving several regular starters—including Kane, Michael Olise, Manuel Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Dayot Upamecano, and Jonathan Tah—on the bench.

Stuttgart took an early lead through Fuehrich in the 21st minute, but Bayern responded emphatically, scoring three goals within seven minutes to take control of the match.

Jamal Musiala set up Guerreiro’s equaliser before Luis Diaz assisted quick-fire goals for Jackson and Davies, giving Bayern a commanding lead by halftime.

Kane added another early in the second half to put the result beyond doubt, as celebrations began on the sidelines with “2026 Champions” shirts already in circulation.

Although Andres pulled one back late for Stuttgart, Bayern comfortably saw out the match to confirm their latest title success.

The triumph once again highlights Bayern’s long-standing superiority in German football.

No other club has reached double figures in Bundesliga titles, underlining Bayern’s sustained dominance.

This season has been particularly prolific, with Bayern scoring 109 goals—already the highest tally in Bundesliga history—with four matches still remaining.

The Bavarian side currently sits on 79 points with a goal difference of 80, putting them on course to set further records before the season concludes.

Kane, who recently became the first English player since 1930–31 to score 50 goals in a single season across all competitions, is also chasing individual milestones.

With 32 league goals from 27 matches, he remains in contention to challenge Robert Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga record of 41 goals.

Meanwhile, Michael Olise has recorded 18 assists this season, closing in on the all-time record of 21 set by Thomas Müller.

Elsewhere on Sunday, SC Freiburg boosted their European hopes with a 2–1 win over Heidenheim, while Borussia Mönchengladbach were scheduled to face Mainz later in the day.
