JAMB denies viral 394 UTME result claim

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed as fake a widely circulated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result slip claiming a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 exam.
The document, which gained traction on social media platform X, alleged that a female candidate identified as Okon Winniefred Sampson achieved 394 out of a possible 400 marks.
In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, expressed concern over how quickly the fabricated result spread, noting that even informed members of the public had shared the claim.
According to the Board, the purported result slip does not align with its official format, raising immediate doubts about its authenticity.
JAMB explained that UTME results are currently accessible only through its approved result-checking platforms and remain strictly “view-only” at this stage, meaning any downloadable or printed version in circulation is highly suspicious.
The Board also pointed out that the document appears to have been created using a fake template, which on its own is enough to invalidate it.
It also highlighted discrepancies in the registration number displayed on the slip, noting that the format particularly the unusual “20269” sequence does not conform to its system-generated structure.
“These inconsistencies clearly expose the document as fraudulent, even at first glance,” the statement indicated.
JAMB urged the public to disregard the fake result and rely solely on official channels for accurate information regarding the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
“All results at the moment are view-only,” the Board reiterated, warning against the spread of misinformation.
