Tinubu in Nairobi for Africa summit

 

President Bola Tinubu is in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level gathering focused on investment, innovation and sustainable development across the African continent.

The presidential aircraft landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at about 12:18 a.m. local time on Monday.

According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu was received by senior Kenyan officials led by Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi.

Also present to welcome the Nigerian leader were Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Isaac Parashina, other top government officials, and members of Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Nairobi.

The summit, which is jointly hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, brings together African leaders, global policymakers, investors and development partners to discuss strategies for economic growth and continental cooperation.

The Africa Forward Summit is expected to focus on key areas such as economic transformation, digital innovation, trade expansion, infrastructure development and climate resilience.

It would also explore practical solutions aimed at promoting long-term prosperity and strengthening partnerships across Africa and beyond.

During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with participating leaders and stakeholders to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic, economic and investment relations.

His participation, according to the presidency, reflects Nigeria’s commitment to regional integration and African-led solutions to development challenges.

The statement added that Tinubu’s administration remains focused on advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda through strategic international engagement and partnerships.

The President is accompanied by a strong delegation of cabinet members and senior officials.

They include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari; and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Others are Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.

Senior diplomats and officials such as Sola Enikanolaiye, Omotenioye Majekodunmi, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke, are also part of the delegation.

The summit is expected to run discussions on strengthening economic ties, boosting investment flows and enhancing Africa’s position in the global economic system.
