2027: Eno seeks Akpabio’s support

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has formally consulted President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, ahead of the 2027 governorship election, reaffirming his commitment to political unity and cooperation in the state.
Governor Eno made the disclosure during a consultation visit to Senator Akpabio, where he said the meeting was aimed at appreciating the Senate President for his continued support for Akwa Ibom State and seeking his blessings ahead of the next election cycle.
According to the governor, the visit reflected the importance of consultation, collaboration and unity among political stakeholders in the state.
“We came to appreciate you and thank you for accepting us and for protecting the interests of Akwa Ibom State,” Eno said during the meeting.
“We thought it wise to come home and consult you officially as we undertake this journey,” he added.
Eno stressed that peace, unity and cooperation among political leaders remain essential for the continued growth and development of Akwa Ibom State.
He also assured President Bola Tinubu and Senator Akpabio of the state’s support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor maintained that sustained collaboration between state leaders and the Federal Government would help attract greater development opportunities to Akwa Ibom.
Responding, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed appreciation to Governor Eno and members of the delegation for the visit.
Akpabio described the governor as “humility personified” and commended him for promoting peace and political harmony across party lines in the state.
The Senate President also pledged his support for Governor Eno ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, unity among political stakeholders would strengthen governance and improve development efforts within the state.
Akpabio further urged political leaders and stakeholders in Akwa Ibom to work towards delivering massive support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2027 elections.
He noted that maintaining a strong relationship with the Federal Government would bring more benefits and opportunities to the state.
Earlier during the visit, the Director-General of Campaigns, Assam Assam (SAN), praised Governor Eno for what he described as his humility, compassion and commitment to service.
Assam also commended Senator Akpabio for his leadership role and representation of Akwa Ibom State at the national level.
The consultation comes amid growing political realignments and early preparations by major political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections across the country.
