Oborevwori reaffirms support for monarchs

 

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has stressed that unity and cooperation remain the foundation of every successful kingdom and community.

The governor spoke during the presentation of Staff of Office to Obi Ikechukwu Chukwuemeka Christopher Ugbomah II of Issele-Azagba Kingdom.
The ceremony took place on Thursday in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Oborevwori was represented at the event by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme.
He described the occasion as a celebration of culture, peace, and the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in society.

According to him, royal fathers continue to play vital roles in preserving peace and maintaining communal harmony across Delta State.

The governor said traditional rulers remain custodians of culture and mediators during conflicts within communities.

He noted that sustainable development can only flourish in peaceful and stable environments.

Oborevwori explained that the Staff of Office symbolises authority, trust, and responsibility between the monarch and his people.

He urged the new monarch to lead with wisdom, fairness, integrity, and compassion.

The governor also called on indigenes of Issele-Azagba, both home and abroad, to support the traditional ruler.

He encouraged residents to work together for peace, youth empowerment, investment, and preservation of cultural heritage.

Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions across the state.

Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Emma Chinye, praised the community for preserving its traditions despite challenges.

Chinye described the coronation as a victory for justice, peace, and the cultural identity of the people.

He advised residents to place community interest above personal ambitions for progress and unity.

President General of Issele-Azagba Development Union, Patrick Isichei, appreciated the state government for recognising the kingdom.

He described the Staff of Office as a symbol of trust linking the monarch, government, and future generations.
