UAT appoints new registrar

The University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) has officially welcomed Mrs. Tare-ela Darlington Abite as the institution’s third substantive Registrar following her assumption of office this week.

The Vice Chancellor, on behalf of the management, staff, and students of the university, extended a warm reception to Mrs. Abite as she commenced her duties in the new role.

Her appointment was approved by the University’s First Governing Council during its 17th statutory meeting, with the appointment taking effect from Monday, May 18, 2026. She is expected to serve a single tenure of five years.

Mrs. Abite brings more than 25 years of experience in university administration, most of which she acquired at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island.

Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management, and a Master of Science degree in Management.

Before her appointment at UAT, she served as Establishments Officer at Niger Delta University. She also previously held the position of Chairman of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Niger Delta University chapter.

Speaking after assuming office, Mrs. Abite pledged to contribute her best efforts toward advancing the growth and development of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua.

She expressed optimism about working with the university community to move the institution to greater heights.

Her appointment also marks a significant milestone in the university’s history as she becomes the first female Registrar of the institution.

Mrs. Abite is from Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

She is married and blessed with children.
